Majority Background :
Sharjah Municipality has introduced a three-day free parking scheme for the Eid Al Adha holidays. The free parking scheme will be held from June 6 to June 8, 2025, in an attempt to capture the holiday season. The waiver is in the form of three days of free parking under an initiative aimed at easing life for citizens and residents to enjoy celebrations and community activities.
But note that the fee waiver does not extend to some paid lots open seven days a week. These seven-day paid lots, never closed on holidays, are of course posted with blue signs to recognize them as not free public parking lots.
The city is calling on drivers to observe such areas in an attempt to avoid any parking offense or fine. By providing free parking in most public areas, Sharjah hopes to avoid traffic congestion and facilitate smooth flow of traffic during peak holiday periods.
This project is part of the municipality’s larger efforts in enhancing public services and life in general for residents and visitors alike during the necessary cultural and religious festivals. Sharjah Municipality also has a careful eye and is in charge of urban infrastructure to make it easy, secure, and accessible to all.
Drivers should book their parking in advance and utilize the free parking facility in qualifying areas to the maximum extent possible while being careful with respect to parking regulations in pay-and-display zones.
